Area Partnership

Partick East and Kelvindale Area Partnership – Ward 23
Partick Community Council represents you on this partnership.

What are Area Partnerships?

Area Partnerships are part of Glasgow City Council’s approach to ensuring local voices are heard in shaping decisions that affect your community. Each Area Partnership brings together local councillors, community representatives, and other key partners to:

  • Support a more open, modern, and responsive local government

  • Help drive social recovery and community renewal

  • Promote transparency and encourage community participation in setting priorities and allocating resources at the ward level

What do Area Partnerships do?

As set out by Glasgow City Council, Area Partnerships are responsible for:

  • Reviewing and influencing progress on Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Community Planning Partnership (GCPP) priorities within the ward

  • Developing and monitoring local action plans

  • Collaborating with the Citizens’ Panel to gather local feedback and shape priorities

  • Ensuring input is sought from across the community, especially from groups traditionally underrepresented in local decision-making

  • Acting as a communication hub—sharing updates, coordinating services, and facilitating discussions

  • Consulting on new policies, plans, and developments affecting the ward

  • Deciding on the allocation of the Area Budget

  • Supporting participatory budgeting and local democratic engagement

  • Reporting progress quarterly and contributing to the GCPP’s annual report

  • Holding annual review sessions with the Citizens’ Panel to reflect on the past year and plan ahead

Community Representation

Each Area Partnership includes between four and six local residents nominated through local community networks, following guidelines set by the Strategic Partnership. Up to four additional members can be co-opted by agreement of the Area Partnership members.

Want to Get Involved?

Local residents and organisations—especially Community Councils—are encouraged to participate in their Area Partnership. By sharing your local knowledge and insight, you can help shape decisions and priorities for your neighbourhood. While only members can vote, meetings are open to the public, and community voices are valued.

Each Area Partnership is also allocated an Area Budget, which supports local projects and initiatives. You can learn more about applying for this funding on our Area Budget page.

The Role of Partick Community Council

Partick Community Council (PCC) attends Area Partnership meetings on behalf of the people of Partick. Our aim is to ensure your views, needs, and priorities are reflected in local decisions.

We stay connected to the community through a range of engagement activities (see our “Engaging with the People of Partick” section) so we can effectively advocate for you. One recent example is our involvement in the development of the new Area Plan, where we bring local knowledge and experience to the table.

A key part of our role is to help influence how local funding is used, making sure it brings the greatest possible benefit to Partick. These funds include:

  • The Area Budget

  • The Parks and Open Spaces Fund

  • The Infrastructure Improvement Fund
